CyclingUK is the national organisation that promotes all forms of cycling and has a membership base of over 65,000. It has a long and illustrious history, founded in 1878 as the Bicycle Touring Club, subsequently re-named the Cyclists’ Touring Club, and now as CyclingUK.

The demographic of the club is skewed towards being at/over retirement age, with generally a good mix of male and female riders across the groups and also some “youngsters”. So don’t let age/gender put you off – everyone is just as welcome.

So, if you are looking for a sociable cycling club, one with a wealth of knowledge of the best routes, cafes and pubs in Shropshire, then hopefully one of our rides will suit your individual needs – why not give us a try?

Our main activity is organising rides around the glorious Shropshire countryside: plains of the North; hills of the South; marches of the West; World Heritage Site of Ironbridge Gorge of the East. These happen regularly every Sunday, Tuesday Wednesday and Thursday.

Our rides usually start in Shrewsbury, but sometimes to enable us to go a little further afield and visit the neighbouring counties of Powys, Staffordshire, Cheshire and Herefordshire, we’ll do a car-assist to the start.

We also organise some occasional social activities, such as a social evening, quiz night, or even a cycling weekend away.

Being part of a club, you also get to hear what’s going on outside the club and which members take part in e.g. charity rides, sportives, or even private rides/excursions.
